Departments are ways to categorized general ledger
accounts. They are
essential for the user that wants to be able run financial reports that
are segmented for business needs. A
department for your business may be Services, Retail, or Aesthetics. You do not need to setup departments if you do not want any
for your accounting model.
To add departments just select the plus icon.
You must enter a department id and name to save a department.
A department must be a number that does not exceed 4 digits long.
We recommend two digit department numbers if you do not need a
lot of departments. You can
always setup up departments later in your implementation.
Departments can also be setup after you have begun your
accounting in the software as well.
You cannot delete a department that is in use in
your chart of accounts but you can edit the department name at any time.
For instance you can change the name of the department with out
losing any data.
